Numbers, Numbers, Numbers

Christopher loves tools. All sorts of tools. Yesterday he picked up a tape measure and it provided hours of  entertainment. As bath time approached we began to measure things in the bathroom. I showed him how he could measure one of the tiles around the shower. "Look Christopher, one, two three, four - the tile is four inches wide." He then took the tape measure and placed it on the tile. I was busy getting him ready for the bath and realized he was measuring by saying, "number, number, number, number!" Too funny - he's right, there are lots of numbers on a tape measure.

7 months and counting for Charlie

And here we are at 7 months:

• Such a delight and a happy baby.
• He fought his first 2 ear infections - and not very successfully. 
• He loves to eat all sorts of veggies and fruits.
• We've enjoyed some days at home - and weathered the March tornados all snuggled up together - and some days out and about.
• Charlie made another visit to the Arboretum.
• He's trying to scooch around on the floor.
• He's sitting up better and better in his highchair.
• He weighs about 17 lbs now.

Charlie is 6 months old!

Oh my, holy cow, no way, I can't believe it, what?, where did the time go?? Charlie is 6 months old...already! We've had a great month and here are some of his highlights:

• He is now an expert roller-overer. He can turn and twist and push up like a champ.
• He ditched being swaddled and has successfully moved to a sleep sack....and sleeping on his tummy!
• He began eating rice cereal, veggies, and fruit...didn't take him anytime to catch on. 
• We're still working on his sleeping and stretching him out from 7p - 7a.
• His first tooth came in!
• He sits up in "froggie" quite a bit and loves to play with all the toys on it.
• He has a great belly laugh when you kiss his tummy and cheeks. Very funny.
• He loves to interact with Christopher and they make each other laugh. I've caught some very special moments with the two of them laying on the floor "playing." I just stop and watch them together.
• His hair is coming in more and more and I think it may be headed a little darker than I first thought.
• He is 27 inches long and weighs 16lbs and 4 ozs. Not too shabby!

January 30 - Charlie is 5 months old

January brought a lot of change in our home. My last day working at Parkland was January 6. I have thoroughly enjoyed a slower pace - especially in the morning - and having a lot of fun time with both boys. Charlie is just exploding with new tricks all the time. He was sick for a couple of weeks this month but has rallied.

• His sleeping has certainly adjusted and settled in to about 6:30pm - 7:30am or so. He still eats late and early (5:30am or so) but that is starting to shift as well and I bet before long he's stretching out those eating times as well.
• He likes to catnap during the day and gets 2 or 3 naps in.
• Charlie is rolling over! Slow at first and he's picking up steam.
• He's gaining more and more control with his neck and can sit up in the bumbo for longer periods of time.
• We had a great road trip to Louisiana for New Year's. He was a super traveler!
• His hair is coming in more and more and is a very light brown.
• Lucky dog has kept those long, gorgeous eyelashes and those blue eyes just make them pop out!

We love you buddy! We celebrated your birthday a bit early while we had all of our family together. What a treat to have all your grandparents together. You make us laugh and smile every single day and bring us so much joy.
