August 30, 2011 - Charlie is here!

Early on Tuesday, August 30 we rolled on in to the hospital to meet our new little baby. After coordinating oodles of logistics with Christopher's week, grandparents helping out, food at home and all my necessities for the hospital I was actually glad to not be in charge of the day ahead. My c-section went off without a hitch and was actually a much more pleasant experience than before. I was much more "with it" this time. I will say that the anticipation of finding out if we had a boy or girl was so exciting. You could feel the energy build in the OR as the moment came closer and closer and then my doctor said...it's a boy. I think I squealed out loud. Another boy! I was so happy!

We had many visitors - family and friends alike - and at the end of our stay we were happy to head home. Charlie has two family names. Charles Raleigh Bacala is his full name. Chris' paternal grandfather was named Charles (Charlie) and Deidre's paternal grandfather's middle name was Raleigh.

Here Charlie is with his two grandfathers - Pawk and Grandad Richard.

And the proud grandmothers - Mimi and Lollie

The Bacala guys!

Christopher the big brother.

One Fine Day

Three weeks from today we will be holding our new baby in our arms. Girl or boy, boy or girl? We shall see. So that means I am very pregnant, in record setting heat....here's a review of my day.

The neighbor walking her dog stopped me on the way to the car this morning to ask how I was holding up, the security officer in my office building opened the doors for me and greeted me with a smile and asked how I was feeling, my colleagues just shake their heads and smile when they see me each morning, the women on staff at RaceTrack (where I went to get my ginger ale and crushed ice) asked how I was feeling and even asked to touch my belly, the lady seated next to me at lunch told me I looked cute and wished me luck - I told her at this stage it really is just about good accessories, people in the elevator just don't know what to say so they get a double-take.

What belly comments will tomorrow hold?

Fropper Mania!

Christopher and I were in a store shopping when he came across the Fropper. It has 4 wheels, he can sit on it, bounce up and down a bit, and scoot it with his feet. I literally had to pry his fingers off the handlebars to get him out of the store. Screaming fit and all. So, of course I knew he had to have one. I found it on-line, on sale, free shipping, with a summer discount. Boom! I ordered it. I have never seen delight like that when I opened the box from our front porch. He loves it as much now as he did in the store.

4th of July

We love summer and July 4th - veggies, veggies, veggies. Lollie came down to visit with the latest harvest from their garden.

Chris was eating corn and Christopher just leaned over a took a bite.

Grilled zucchini!

Cornbread and grilled carrots!

We had a great 4th that included the neighborhood parade, hot dogs and swimming. A great laid back family day. Christopher hit the sack early he was so worn out by everything.

Toddler in the House!

I didn't do it...

Dog food on the left, water bowl on the right = now we have a combo.

Uh-oh, I think I've been caught.

Platform diving

Christopher and I taking a little swim to stay cool - check out my belly under the water. Wowzers! And he's standing on it!!
